Overview

Universal Technical Institute is seeking a dynamic and experienced Education Manager to lead and oversee the Electrical, Electronic, and Industrial Technology (EEIT) program. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction, curriculum alignment, instructor development, and student success across all EEIT course offerings. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in electrical trades and low-voltage systems, combined with proven instructional and managerial experience in technical education environments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Education department in areas of responsibility by developing and maintaining the budget; controlling departmental purchases and instructor scheduling; hiring and disciplining staff; supporting and promoting instructor development and training through coaching and mentoring; and communicating with staff and students on classroom issues and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Responsible for the development and continued progress of our students by ensuring classes are supplied and courses staffed; partnering with course instructors to improve quality of education with presentation and technical expertise; reviewing new information and updates to stay current with the industry; communicating with other leaders and Admissions to ensure consistent application of rules and guidelines, communication, and delivery of a quality education; counseling students on problems or discipline issues and at times work with other departments to implement solutions.
  • Ensures UTI is legitimate in our operations by following the compliance related responsibilities for this position in the supplemental document.
  • Performs the obligations of a Campus Security Authority (CSA) including data collection and reporting under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act”.
  • Establish/maintain a high performance team of professional, motivated and engaged staff utilizing effective training, performance management and career-development activities while leading them to achieve established business results and performance metrics.

  • Program Oversight
  • Ensure the successful launch, implementation, and ongoing management of the EEIT program, maintaining alignment with institutional goals and industry standards.
    Instructor Leadership
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate EEIT instructors to ensure effective teaching practices, professional development, and compliance with curriculum standards.
  • Curriculum Integrity
    Maintain fidelity to NCCER, NFPA-70E, and OSHA-10 standards; oversee updates and enhancements to course content and instructional materials.
    Operational Coordination
    Manage scheduling, resource allocation, and classroom/lab readiness to support efficient program delivery across all instructional waves.
    Student Success
    Monitor student performance, retention, and satisfaction; implement strategies to improve outcomes and support career readiness.
    Compliance and Accreditation
    Ensure program operations meet all regulatory, safety, and accreditation requirements; prepare documentation for audits and reviews.
    Stakeholder Engagement
    Collaborate with campus leadership, industry partners, and academic support teams to promote program visibility and responsiveness to workforce needs.
  • Fully staffed and scheduled EEIT instructional team for all wave cohorts
  • Quarterly performance reports on student outcomes, instructor evaluations, and program metrics
  • Updated curriculum maps and instructional plans aligned with industry standards
  • Documented compliance with safety and accreditation protocols
  • Strategic plan for EEIT program growth and continuous improvement
  • Instructor onboarding and professional development plans
  • Student feedback summaries and action plans for improvement
  • Inspire and Educate: Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment where students can flourish, fostering their passion for auto mechanics while imparting your expert knowledge.
  • Hands-On Training: Lead by example and provide practical demonstrations, ensuring students gain real-world experience in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing small engines.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with our education team to enhance existing courses and develop new ones that align with industry trends and advancements.
  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor students on their individual projects, encouraging them to think critically and find innovative solutions.
  • Safety First: Instill the importance of safety procedures and best practices to ensure a secure working environment for students.

Qualifications

Education / Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in residential/commercial electrical work or low-voltage systems
  • Proven instructional experience (minimum 3 years) in vocational/technical education
  • Proficiency in electrical theory, NEC standards, conduit bending, wiring, and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with fire alarm, security, A/V, broadband, and network cabling system
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • 2-3 years prior teaching and/or management experience or equivalent training

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with IoT systems and advanced electrical controls - Electrical Electrician practical experience 
  • Familiarity with National Construction Center for Education Research (NCCER) curriculum and instructional standards

Abilities

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds or less 25% of the workday

  • Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.
  • May required occasional overnight travel.

  • Work is performed indoors in a climate controlled environment.
  • Work is performed occasionally outdoors
  • Work is infrequently performed near moving mechanical parts
  • Short periods of limited exposure to non-hazardous levels of dust, light welding fumes or airborne particles.
