Overview

The Manager of Campus Accounting is responsible for overseeing centralized accounting functions across multiple campus locations, which include month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes; reviewing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations; ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX); and managing special projects. Provides ad hoc and additional accounting-related support to campus locations as needed. Additionally, this role offers support to the Home Office Accounting Department.

 

Salary Range: $74,000.00 - $110,00.00

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, reviews, and approves journal entries for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes across multiple campus locations.
  • Performs and reviews account reconciliations for multiple campus locations
  • Prepares financial analysis as required
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for campus accounting support
  • Performs system testing, spreadsheet testing, access reviews, etc. to support SOX compliance
  • Leads process improvement initiatives as required.
  • Temporarily backfills open campus accounting positions as needed
  • Fosters open communication among all campuses.
  • Establishes and maintains a high-performance team of professional, motivated, and engaged staff by utilizing effective training, performance management, and career development activities to achieve established business results and performance metrics.
  • Acknowledges and rewards employee contributions and achievements.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • CPA or CMA strongly preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in accounting, public company experience preferred
  • 1-2 years of public accounting or audit experience is preferred

Skills

  • Strong computer skills, prior experience with general ledger accounting systems and knowledge of personal computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. PeopleSoft experience a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written including the ability to deal with a variety of personalities in a professional manner
  • Working knowledge of GAAP & SOX
  • Ability to influence without authority in a matrixed environment
  • Excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Analytical skills required to identify and resolve problems effectively

 

 Work Environment

  • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment
