Overview

The Manager of Corporate Accounting manages a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies and external audits such as recording of leases, accounting for our accrued tool sets and leading the monthly close process with a focus on continuous improvement of accounting processes while remaining in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).

Responsibilities

  • Leads portions of the monthly close process, including preparing and/or reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses, ensuring all are in accordance with GAAP. Understands and enforces established accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assists the Director of Corporate Accounting with the preparation of the Monthly Business Review report and other support schedules including the monthly income statement and balance sheet.
  • Regularly looks for opportunities to optimize and streamline processes and procedures to make the month-end close process more efficient and accurate.  
  • Performs technical accounting research as needed
  • Ad hoc analysis completed as needed
  • Ensures adequate internal controls are in place and monitors for effectiveness
  • Point manager in initiating and managing SOX compliance procedures and documentation including SOP review and management’s annual assessment of internal controls under Sarbanes-Oxley Sections 302 and 404
  • Continued focus on improving system efficiencies while ensuring compliance with SOX and SEC requirements by performing system testing, spreadsheet testing, access review, etc.
  • Supports annual and quarterly audits (both internal and external).
  • Reviews, updates and drafts policies, procedures, and desktop instructions
  • Establishes/maintains a high performance team of professional, motivated and engaged staff utilizing effective training, performance management and career-development activities while leading them to achieve established business results and performance metrics. 
  • Recognizes and rewards employee contributions and achievements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
  • 5-7 years general accounting experience
  • 1-3 years managerial experience
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and SOX
  • CPA Preferred

Skills

  • Strong computer skills, prior experience with general ledger accounting systems and knowledge of personal computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. PeopleSoft experience a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written including the ability to deal with a variety of personalities in a professional manner
  • Ability to influence without authority in a matrixed environment
  • Excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Analytical skills required to identify and resolve problems effectively
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional decorum

Abilities

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 5 pounds or less 5% of the workday
  • Must be able stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 5% or less of the workday
  • Must be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, learn and reason for all of the workday
  • Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods throughout the workday.
  • Will require minimal overnight travel.
