Overview

Maintenance Specialist II is responsible for maintaining and performing minor repairs to buildings, electrical fixtures and plumbing of campus building and surrounding areas based on assigned work orders.  Maintaining the campus with a high level of pride is integral to the success of our students who are looking to change their lives through technical training. Candidates must be able to work under general supervision and have a team player approach.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain structure of establishment by performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring and other related maintenance activities.
  • Ensure that all equipment is clean and functioning properly.
  • Notify management concerning need for major repairs.
  • Maintain clean and neat appearance of building.
  • Assemble office furniture.
  • Set up classrooms and auditoriums for campus functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Experience

  • High School diploma or GED

Skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are essential.
  • Ability to provide flexible and adaptable work schedules.
  • Ability to maintain professional image and work environment.
  • Must possess good communication, planning, organization and judgement skills
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance practices.
  • Must be able to use hand tools, electrical test equipment and welding equipment

 

Abilities

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for prolonged periods throughout the workday
  • Must be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, learn and reason for all of the workday
  • Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods throughout the workday.

 

Work Environment

  • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Regular business hours with occasional overtime required.
