Trade Your Wrenches for Weekends: HVACR Instructor Career Transition

Are you tired of grueling on-call shifts, extreme weather work, crawlspaces, and endless driving from job to job? If you're an experienced HVACR technician wondering if there's a better way to use your hard-earned skills without the physical burnout, it's time to step out of the field and into the classroom.

Universal Technical Institute (UTI) is looking for seasoned HVACR professionals ready for a stable, rewarding career change where your expertise is valued, your body gets a break, and your weekends finally belong to you.

Never taught before? No problem. If you have hands-on experience, patience, and drive, we provide fully paid training to turn your field expertise into a fulfilling second career as an instructor.

Why Make the Switch?

Transitioning from the field to instruction offers the stability and lifestyle upgrade you’ve been looking for:

  • Work-Life Balance: Enjoy weekends OFF and predictable, consistent daytime schedules.
  • Zero On-Call Stress: Leave behind emergency middle-of-the-night service calls and harsh outdoor elements.
  • Pass It On: Use your years of troubleshooting and technical know-how to mentor the next generation of technicians, helping them avoid the mistakes you learned the hard way.

What We Offer You & Your Family

  • Pay Rate: $34-36 per hour
  • Paid Training: Comprehensive onboarding so you feel confident from day one—no prior teaching experience required.
  • Tuition Waiver: Available after 6 months of employment for you AND your immediate family across UTI and Concorde campuses.
  • Paid Time Off: Robust programs covering vacation, sick leave, flexibility, and holidays.
  • Retirement Matching: 50% match on the first 6% of your contributions after 90 days.
  • Paid Parental Leave: 4 weeks of paid leave for both birthing and non-birthing parents.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Health, vision, and dental coverage starting the first of the month following one full month of employment.
  • Pet Insurance: Coverage for your furry family members through ASPCA.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do (Without the Field Burnout)

  • Mentor & Teach: Share your real-world insights, troubleshooting tips, and industry stories in an engaging, climate-controlled learning environment.
  • Lead Hands-On Training: Guide students through practical demonstrations and diagnostics without the pressure of billing hours or rushing to the next job site.
  • Collaborate: Work alongside an education team to keep courses aligned with modern HVACR tech trends and advancements.
  • Promote Safety: Instill safety procedures and best practices in a secure, well-equipped workshop setting.

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: 3-5 years of practical work experience in the HVACR field (we value your real-world background!).
  • Certifications: EPA 608/Universal is highly valued.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and the patience to guide beginners who are eager to learn what you already master.
