Overview

The Business Intelligence Analyst II is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high quality analytical dashboards and data visualizations using Power BI and/or Qlik. This role combines strong technical capability in SQL and data modeling with deep analytical thinking and business acumen. The BI Analyst works closely with business stakeholders to understand processes, data flows, and core operational questions, transforming raw data into meaningful insights that drive decision-making. The individual in this role must be skilled at selecting appropriate analytical techniques, interpreting complex datasets, and presenting findings in a clear, compelling, and actionable manner.

 

Pay Range: $118,000 - $126,000

Responsibilities

  • Serves as primary liaison with business leaders to help define analytical solutions to business issues and manage the resulting projects from inception to delivery
  • Develops complex data solutions via SQL and other data extraction techniques to prepare data for analysis, ensuring alignment between the data and the underlying business processes that the data reflects
  • Designs, develops, monitors, and/or maintains analysis and reporting solutions as well as the communication of results to business stakeholders
  • Build, enhance and maintain interactive dashboards and reporting solutions, using intuitive visual designs that effectively communicate insights and support data-driven decision-making; apply best practices in visual storytelling, user experience and information design
  • Apply analytical techniques appropriate to the problem – trend analysis, segmentation, cohort analysis, correlation analysis, KPI development, etc. and provide stakeholders with tools/dashboards that support ongoing self-service insight
  • Develop strong understanding of the business processes, systems and data that power the organization’s KPIs
  • Partner with Business Analysts and business leaders to clarify requirements, validate assumptions, and ensure alignment between reporting and real-world processes
  • Document logic, definitions and data flows to support transparency and repeatability
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or related field or equivalent industry certification and experience (required)
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in data gathering, data organization, and data analysis utilizing Microsoft SQL (required) SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, and Power BI (preferred)
  • Experience should include five (5) years of Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, and ETL or related experience (preferred)
  • Experience with QlikView dashboards (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge and experience with relational database platforms, including SQL Server
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, FERPA, GLBA, DoE Blue Book, Accreditation Standards, etc.) as they relate to data integrity and privacy
  • Advanced SQL Querying skills (required)

Work Environment

  • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment when on site at assigned company location. Employees must be able to safely ambulate when on company premises
  • This position is eligible for a remote work location to meet business needs. Employees must meet minimum technical standards for eligibility and participation.
  • Overnight and/or Local travel required (up to 5%)
