Overview

The Senior Payroll Analyst is responsible for the full range of automated system record keeping, processing payroll transactions and reporting activities in addition to maintaining and analyzing confidential Payroll and Human Resources information.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and oversees payroll related functions in a timely manner, including the assessment and entry of pay data, changes to the employee master file, distribution of payroll statements and preparation of emergency/manual transactions as needed.
  • Audits/edits time keeping records and payroll reports for accuracy prior to imports, payroll close and check disbursement.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources to ensure data integrity between the company’s ATS and HRIS systems.
  • Manages payroll@ inbox and serves as main point of contact and subject matter expert for payroll and time and attendance system issues including troubleshooting and training department managers.
  • Ensures accurate state, federal, and local jurisdiction tax and labor updates are completed in UKG and in accordance with compliance regulations. Continually evaluates for changes and provides recommendations as needed for changes.
  • Manages the reconciliation and payment of employee and company contributions to the 401(k) Plan, Health Savings Accounts, and the Deferred Compensation Program.
  • Oversees the distribution and financial reporting of Field and Campus Admissions Bonus plans.
  • Assists/leads year-end to ensure a smooth close or transition to the new fiscal and plan benefit year.
  • Supports the Company’s growth initiatives, as well as the Finance and Accounting teams, with special reporting and ad hoc analysis.
  • Manages the vacation liability reporting and reconciliation between the payroll system and the general ledger
  • Leads the reviews of the Payroll Team key and non-key SOP Documents and provides updates at least annually to procedures to ensure required compliance standards, including SOX.
  • Identifies and recommends payroll policies, processes, system enhancements, reporting, and communication needs. May lead and/or participate on project teams to implement selected recommendations in partnership with vendors and other internal departments.
  • Creates, audits, and distributes custom payroll reports and exports including mandatory governmental reporting, garnishment tax, general ledger, stock and/or deferred compensation
  • Serves as payroll liaison with legal on executive requests on subpoenas, California specific issues and other complex payroll matters.
  • Provides training and mentoring to Payroll Analysts to ensure they are properly trained in critical areas of position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years related payroll or finance/accounting experience required
  • Multi-jurisdiction labor and tax experience preferred

Skills

  • Demonstrate solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to compute payroll, including balancing and auditing queries and reports
  • Computer skills required (i.e., automated HRIS, payroll and timekeeping integrations with Word, Excel)

Abilities
